Here I am at the beginning of another journey. This one is unique. It isn’t quite like running a marathon or giving birth to my firstborn. This adventure represents that part of human kind that exists on a deeper level: a metacognitive level. The National Board for Professional Teaching Standards (NBPTS) is built upon the principle that reflective practice improves teaching. This principle can be applied to all of life’s lessons. Therefore, in an attempt to be a better parent, teacher, employee, and public servant, I commit to reflection in order to learn alongside the children who touch my life.
